Buckingham Palace has unveiled a new royal symbol for Britain’s King Charles, which will appear on government buildings and mailboxes.
The symbol, chosen by the new King Charles III from a set of designs prepared by the College of Arms, consists of the letters “C” and “R” representing the names Charles and Rex, meaning king in Latin, with an image of the royal crown.
A copy will be used in Scotland containing the Scottish crown.
The new royal symbol will replace that of the late Queen Elizabeth, “E2R”, who died this month after sitting on the throne for 70 years.
“Every organization should consider replacing the royal symbol, and the process will be gradual,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the palace post office issued its first postal materials using the new royal code.
