The fight for the throne is back in "House of the Dragon"

It’s been three years since HBO’s epic series “Game of Thrones” ended.

Currently, the history of the throne is covered in House of the Dragon, which predates the events of Game of Thrones and documents how the Targaryen kingdom descended into civil war. The series premieres on HBO on August 21.

The series begins with King Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine, choosing an heir, either his obedient daughter Princess Rinera or his violent brother Prince Damon.

The series is based on passages from George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood, which provided a brief glimpse into the Targaryen family’s history 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

The essence of the series lies in the relationship between two women, Aliscent Hightower and Princess Rinera.

The two were closely related until the death of Rinera’s mother and Aliscent’s marriage to King Viserys to become queen and demands that her children become heirs to the throne.

“You’re going there from two women for the first time,” said Emma Darcy, who plays Princess Rinera in the generational story. “It’s a series that questions patriarchy, misogyny and power.”

Some fans have complained about the end of the original “Game of Thrones” series. “House of the Dragon” co-creator Ryan Condall said plans have already been made for the end of the new series.

“We have a plan ahead of us, but the main idea is to tell as much of the story that the book gives us,” he added.
