The Ghanaian footballer’s agent, Christian Atsu, said today, Saturday, that his body was found under the building where he lived in southern Turkey, after last week’s devastating earthquake.
“Atsu’s body was found under the rubble. At the moment, more rubble is still being removed. His phone has also been found,” the player’s agent, Murat Uzun Mehmet, told reporters in Hatay, where the body of the former Chelsea winger was found.
The director of Hatayspor said that Atsu had withdrawn from leaving Turkey hours before the devastating earthquake that struck the region recently, after he scored the winning goal for his competing team in the Turkish Football League.
Atsu scored the winning goal 1-0 against Qasim Pasha minutes before the end of the match that was held on the fifth of this month.
The director of Hatayspor said that the player was not happy before the meeting because he had participated in only two league matches since the start of the season and decided to leave, but he postponed it after scoring the winning goal in the Qasim Pasha match.
