The Saudi Space Authority revealed that it will organize a trip to space next May, according to a tweet on its official account on the social networking site “Twitter”.
The first Arab woman in space, the Saudi astronaut Rayana Barnawi, and her colleague Ali Al-Qarni will be on the flight, as they will join the crew of the “AX-2” space mission.
The trip comes as a continuation of building national capacities in the field of manned flights, benefiting from the promising opportunities offered by the space sector and its industries globally, and contributing to scientific research that serves humanity in a number of priority areas such as health, sustainability and space technology.
