A Tefal frying pan is one of the staples of kitchen equipment, but scientists from Newcastle University and Flinders University have discovered that there are health risks to using the fryer.
The Science of The Total Environment magazine indicated that, according to the researchers, when this frying pan is damaged, plastic particles are released.
To study the consequences of using Tefal utensils, the researchers used molecular spectroscopy and also designed a computer model.
The results showed that even a single crack in the Teflon coating can lead to the release of 2.3 million plastic nanoparticles that are transferred to food, according to Russia Today.
According to the researchers, these results emphasize the need to inform specialists and consumers of the danger of plastic nanoparticles when preparing food using these utensils.
The researchers plan to conduct additional experiments to assess the risk to human health of these particles.
