American singer Britney Spears re-emerged yesterday by releasing a duet with Elton John, in her first new job in six years, and after her 13-year guardianship ended last year.
Spears, 40, had been promoting the song “Hold Me Closer”, a remake of Elton John’s 1971 song “Tiny Dancer”, before the song was released.
“My first song in six years,” Spears wrote in a tweet this week. It’s really great to sing with one of the most classic men of our time.. I’m so happy.. it’s great for me!!! The legal guardianship that had controlled Spears’ life and finances for 13 years ended in November. The American singer rose to fame when her hit song “Baby One More Time” hit in 1998. In September, her father Jimmy Spears’ court-imposed guardianship was terminated in 2008. The father said his only goal was to help his daughter rehabilitate her career. .
Spears indicated in December that she was not yet ready to return to the music industry. Her last studio album was “Glory” in 2016. A press release regarding “Hold Me Closer” said the two stars first met in 2014. On Twitter a year later, Spears expressed her admiration for the song “Tiny Dancer”.
