The naming of the day of Tarwiyah by this name is due to the fact that the pilgrims used to irrigate from the water during the days that followed. The scholar Al-Babarti said in “Al-Anayah Sharh Al-Hidaya” and it was said: The Day of Tarwiyah was called that; Because people quench their thirst with water on this day, they carry water with tales to Arafat and from there.
And it was said that he was named so because of the deliberation in it from Ibrahim in the slaughter of his son Ismail, peace be upon them; Allamah Al-Ayni said in “Al-Bunaya Sharh Al-Hidaya” that the Day of Tarwiyah was called that; Because Ibrahim, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, saw him on the night of the eighth, as if someone were saying to him: “God Almighty commands you to slaughter your son.” So when he became a vision, that is, think about that from morning to night; Is this from God, or from Satan? Hence, it is called the Day of Trouble.
