Twitter: Optional subscription to $20

The American website, The Verge, specialized in technology news, revealed that Twitter intends to increase the price of the optional monthly subscription to $19.99, from $4.99 currently, as well as launch new features, including user verification for a fee.

Yesterday, Bloomberg news agency reported that the plan stipulates that authenticated users will have 90 days to register or they will lose the blue verification mark, according to the report, which transmitted this information to informed sources.

The Verge stated that the employees working on the project were informed that they would be dismissed from work if they did not meet the deadline for launching it on November 7.

After the report, investor Jason Calacanis polled Twitter users about how much they’d spend to get the certification mark, giving them options ranging from “I won’t pay” to $15 per month.

Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, said it was “interesting”, after 78.7% of people who took part in the survey answered that they would not pay for the verification tag.
