The Twitter social networking platform will launch the “blue authentication mark” subscription service, starting tomorrow, Monday, at a higher price for “Apple” users.

The monthly subscription will be $8 for online purchases, or $11 per month for Apple’s iOS app store.

“We’re re-launching the blue verification mark on Monday – subscribe online for $8 per month or iOS for $11 per month for subscriber-only features, including the verification mark,” the social media company said in a tweet on Saturday. blue.”

Twitter did not explain why Apple users are charged more than others on the Internet. But it is said to be looking for ways to offset the fees charged in the App Store.

The company said users can sign up for the updated service, which will allow subscribers to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and get a blue verification mark after account review.

The blue verification mark was originally awarded to companies, celebrities, government agencies and journalists who were verified by the platform.

On Saturday, Twitter said it would start replacing the “official” tag with a gold verification tag for businesses, and later in the week a gray verification tag for government and multilateral accounts.

According to Twitter, subscribers will be able to change their name, display name, or profile picture, but if they do, they will lose the blue verification mark temporarily until their account is reviewed again.

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, launched the “Twitter Blue Authentication Mark” last month, but withdrew the feature after a wave of fake accounts with the credibility mark swept the platform.

After taking over Twitter in a $44 billion acquisition in October, he fired Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and chief financial officer Ned Segal, along with some other key executives, and laid off nearly half of the company’s employees and many of its contractors.

It is noteworthy that at the beginning of 2022, Twitter had about 7,500 employees.
