Billionaire Elon Musk said that Twitter’s blue check mark subscription service will be relaunched on November 29, a slight delay from his initial timeline to bring the service back to the social media platform.
“The postponement of the re-launch of the blue check mark until November 29 came to ensure that it is very strong,” Musk wrote in a tweet on Twitter, yesterday, Tuesday.
In the new version, changing the verified name will result in the loss of the blue tick, Musk said, “until the name is confirmed by Twitter to meet its terms of service.”
The blue check mark was previously reserved for the verified accounts of politicians, celebrities, journalists and other public figures. But the subscription option, available to anyone willing to pay, was rolled out earlier this week to help Twitter boost revenue while Musk struggles to retain advertisers.
Last week, the Tesla chief said Twitter Blue would likely be back “next weekend.”
On Friday, Twitter paused its recently announced $8 blue checkmark subscription service as fake accounts proliferated.
The change came one week after Musk acquired the social media company in a $44 billion deal.
