The White House announces details of Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza

The White House announced US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza on Monday evening.

The White House said in a statement on Monday that “the Israeli military will withdraw from Gaza based on demilitarization criteria and timelines, which will be agreed upon between the Israeli military and security forces, the guarantors, and the United States.”

The White House added that US President Donald Trump’s plan “includes a three-phase Israeli military withdrawal,” noting that “if the two sides agree to the plan, the Gaza war will end immediately

The plan, which was released to coincide with Trump’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, included 20 points.

According to the plan, if both sides agree to the proposal, “the war will end immediately,” and Israeli forces will withdraw to agreed-upon lines in preparation for the release of the hostages. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans arrested after the war began on October 7, 2023

Under the plan, “no one will be forced to leave Gaza,” while “safe passage will be provided for Hamas members wishing to leave Gaza to other countries.”

The plan asserts that “Gaza will be a demilitarized, terrorism-free zone. Hamas members who agree to live peacefully and surrender their weapons will be granted amnesty, and those who wish to leave will be allowed safe passage. Gaza will be governed in a transitional phase by a non-political, technocratic Palestinian committee, under the supervision of a new international body called the Peace Council, headed by Trump and supported by world leaders such as Tony Blair.”

The plan stated: “The immediate entry of comprehensive humanitarian aid, including water, electricity, hospitals, bakeries, and the opening of roads, while relief will be managed through the United Nations, the Red Cross/Red Crescent, and other international organizations, without interference from either party. The Rafah crossing mechanism will be in accordance with the January 19, 2025 agreement
