“Top Gun: Maverick” became the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time in the domestic market, ahead of Marvel’s “Black Panther” in 2018.
“Top Gun: Maverick” has now made $701 million in North America, while “Black Panther” has made $700 million in theaters, according to Variety.
The New York Daily News reported that this is the latest achievement of “Top Gun: Maverick”, which was already the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2022 with a worldwide gross of $1.4 billion.
The film is a long-awaited sequel to the original 1986 “Top Gun,” with Tom Cruise returning as a marine pilot in the character of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who must now train a new generation of pilots
