Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski resort of its kind in the Middle East, has maintained its prestigious title after winning the votes of industry professionals and consumers around the world.
Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall development and management company in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has announced that Ski Dubai has once again won the award for Best Indoor Ski Resort in the World. This year’s award is the latest in a record-breaking seven-year winning streak that began in 2015 when Ski Dubai was recognized for the first time by the World Ski Awards, which epitomize the highest standards of excellence in the ski tourism industry. Ski Dubai, along with its sister brand Ski Egypt, was nominated among ten internationally known indoor ski resorts, from Egypt, Germany, China, Spain, Scotland, New Zealand and the Netherlands. This victory comes one week after Ski Dubai hosted 12 national and international snow sports events, with the participation of 146 snowboarders, including 65 professional athletes from 23 countries. Of the 12 events, 11 were FIS-level events sanctioned by the global governing body for Olympic qualifying skiing and snowboarding. These achievements come after the ratification of the UAE’s membership in the International Ski Federation at the International Ski Conference this year.
Earlier this year, Ski Dubai caught the attention of one of the world’s leading snowboarders, Shaun White, who hosted a training session with the Sponsored Athletes, a diverse group of talented skiers and snowboarders from the region. Since 2017, the Supported Athletes program has offered talented skiers in the region a host of benefits including unlimited access to the slopes and over 90 hours of training with expert coaches who have trained many elite athletes.
