Al-Sharaa stated during an interview with the American channel “Fox News” that his American counterpart gifted him his campaign hat bearing the MAGA logo.

For his part, Syria’s permanent representative to the Security Council, Ibrahim Alabi, explained that the moments between the two presidents were spontaneous, and that the exchange of gifts was not planned in an official manner

He also revealed that the president toured the White House with his Syrian counterpart and showed him around the rooms.

In remarks accompanying the meeting, Trump described President al-Sharaa as a “very strong leader” and a “tough person,” indicating his appreciation for the role he plays in the current circumstances.

The MAGA hat, which is officially sold at Trump’s store for $55, is famous for being a symbol of his “Make America Great Again” campaign.

It is one of the most symbolic and widespread gifts in the American political context.

First ever visit by a Syrian president to the White House

It is worth noting that al-Sharaa’s visit marked the first ever visit by a Syrian president to the White House, six months after his first meeting with Trump in Saudi Arabia.
