James Bond "New" on the 60th anniversary of the film

Fans of James Bond, the British secret agent, are celebrating 60 years since the first blockbuster movie premiered on the silver screen today, with one question on their minds: Who will be the next actor to take the flag for this role in the next movie?

According to series producers Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael J. Wilson, the search for the new Bond has not yet begun, despite the end of Daniel Craig’s era with the release of the latest movie in the series “No Time to Die” in 2021.

“We won’t really be looking for an actor for this role for some time,” Broccoli said in an interview just before the 60th anniversary of the premiere of the franchise’s debut (Dr. No) on October 5, 1962.

“What we have to do is start a phase of comprehensive change, which is very exciting,” Broccoli added.

But as audiences continue to speculate about who should play one of Hollywood’s sexiest roles, the question arises: What characteristics are producers looking for in the next Bond actor?

“We want, first of all, a good actor… an actor who isn’t necessarily just an action movie actor, but an actor who can play a complex role like the one we write in the script,” Wilson said.

Broccoli said that choosing the right actor is very important to the continuity of the series.

Sean Connery was the first to play the role of the British secret agent created by author Ian Fleming. He was followed by a host of movie stars including Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and finally Craig.
