How did Prince Harry commemorate the death of Queen Elizabeth II ?
Coinciding with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, Prince Harry visited his late grandmother’s grave at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and laid a wreath in her memory, in the absence of his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children.
The British newspaper “People” reported that Harry visited the site where the late Queen was buried. The place holds special symbolic significance for the prince, as it hosted his wedding to his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2018. He also previously visited his grandmother’s grave in 2023
Prince Harry arrived in Britain on September 8 without his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to carry out a series of charitable missions, but began his visit at Queen Elizabeth’s Burial Ground. His first public stop is the WellChild Awards, where he will honor children facing challenging health conditions, along with the families and medical staff who care for them.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8, 2022. She was buried alongside her husband, Prince Philip, in a private service at the King George VI Memorial Chapel, within the grounds of Windsor Castle, on September 19, following her state funeral.
British media had previously speculated that Prince Harry might meet his father, King Charles III, during the visit, in an attempt to end the estrangement between them, especially since the prince will be staying in Britain for several days. He is scheduled to be in Nottingham on Tuesday, September 9, to launch a new charitable initiative, with a large donation to the Children in Need organization, according to media reports
The event, held at the Community Recording Studio (CRS), is partnered with local organizations such as Epic Partners and Coach Core and aims to support youth in the face of violence through sports and the arts.
Prince Harry’s programme also includes informal meetings with young people he has met on previous visits, as well as talks with the police, crime authorities, and local community leaders. He will also attend live art performances at the CRS Centre, before giving a short speech and touring the facilities.
Prince Harry’s visit comes after he attended a court hearing in April, where he lost an appeal regarding his official conservatorship. He has not seen his father, King Charles, since February, when he paid a quick visit following the announcement that the king had cancer. Despite the estrangement that has accompanied their recent encounters, speculation is growing this time about a possible meeting between father and son. However, this matter appears to remain a matter of media speculation, given that no meeting has been announced between the king and his youngest son.
