The British Royal Mint announced that Harry Potter, the hero of the fictional series by writer J.K. Rowling, will appear on a series of commemorative coins in the United Kingdom, including 50 pence pieces, as well as other coins bearing the portraits of Queen Elizabeth. And King Charles.
According to what The List has published, 4 new coins will be issued to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first book in the Harry Potter series in the United Kingdom. These coins will not only represent a milestone in literature, but the coins will be the first collection featuring Queen Elizabeth Late King Charles III.
Queen Elizabeth will appear on the first two coins issued this year, while the King will appear on other coins to be issued in 2023.
Prices for Harry Potter commemorative coins range from £11 50 pence to £5,125 for a £200 Harry Potter gold coin. Fans will also be able to purchase a color copy of Harry Potter 50p for £20.
According to Royal Central, Nicholas Howell, chief commercial officer of the Royal Mint, said: “As an official UK coin maker, we are delighted to be creating an impressive coin collection to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.”
Released in 1997, the 7-part Harry Potter series chronicles the adventures of the young wizard Harry Potter at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and his battle against Lord Voldemort, an evil wizard searching for immortality.
