The American billionaire, Bill Gates, has become one of the most reliable people for the whole world, and in particular with regard to technology and its development in the future of humanity.
Gates’ predictions about the next steps that the world will take are of great importance to the people of the globe, and they often take them seriously.
The fame of the founder of “Microsoft” reached its peak in 2015, when he predicted the arrival of the coronavirus, and said at that time that the next disaster that would befall the world would be a deadly epidemic.
An invention that will change humanity:
Bill Gates says in his predictions for the future that the next technological boom, which will sweep societies, is self-driving vehicles.
Gates said: “We are in the early days of the era of self-government, I can not wait to see the new possibilities.” He added, “We are close to the tipping point” as this chapter begins, and that autonomous vehicles will be the technology that will represent the complete tipping point.
He also talked about artificial intelligence, predicting that there will be a “turning point” in the creation of self-driving vehicles.
Gates predicted that “self-driving cars will allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel and allow the system to drive in certain circumstances.”
And the famous businessman indicated that this technology has come a very long way, and is already close to appearing in our world, when he said: “They have reached the point where almost all the required technologies have been invented. Now, the focus is on improving algorithms and perfecting engineering.”
Gates compared this technology of vehicles, and the change it will bring about in the world, to that brought about by the invention of the computer, stressing that the world will have to start rethinking driving systems.
The American billionaire does not believe that the change will come all at once, but rather it will be gradual, and the vehicles that are used a little will be the last to be replaced, “It is likely that long-distance transportation will be the first sector, followed by those working in the field of delivery,” Gates says.
He pointed out that “car rental companies lose a lot of money every year due to accidents caused by drivers, so they are keen to switch to self-driving fleets that are less prone to accidents.”
Gates concluded his speech by pointing out that automated cars will be cheaper than regular cars, advising humanity: “If you, like me, travel by car, think about the time you waste driving.”
